TARRP Vetting Process
1. Strategic Partnerships:
TARRP collaborates with reputable organizations like Nation Outside, A Brighter Way, and Friends of Returning Citizens. These partners refer individuals who align with the program's mission and eligibility criteria, ensuring a steady flow of candidates vetted through trusted networks.
2. Oversight by TARRP's Vetting Board:
TARRP’s vetting board, composed of experienced professionals and individuals with educated insights into the reentry process, takes a direct role in:
Reviewing Files and Cases: Evaluating the background and circumstances of referred individuals to ensure they meet program standards.
Assessing Suitability: Identifying candidates' readiness for reentry based on their progress in the Stages of Change Model, such as their motivation, accountability, and commitment to rehabilitation.
4. Reference Checks:
TARRP contacts references provided by candidates, prioritizing community members in good standing, such as mentors, employers, or religious leaders, to:
Verify the candidate’s character and efforts toward rehabilitation.
Gather insights into the candidate’s support network and stability.
3. Candidate Interviews:
Each candidate undergoes a detailed interview process where:
Expectations Are Outlined: Candidates are informed of program rules, requirements, and resources.
Individual Needs Are Identified: The interview assesses the candidate’s current challenges and support needs, aligning them with appropriate services.
5. Holistic Evaluation:
The combination of partner referrals, internal board reviews, interviews, and reference checks ensures that TARRP selects candidates who are both ready to succeed and in genuine need of support, creating a program that balances accountability with opportunity.
By maintaining rigorous vetting standards and leveraging trusted relationships, TARRP contributes to a system that promotes meaningful reentry, reduces recidivism, and strengthens community reintegration
